Fable Fridays
Hello Everyone and happy weekend! To celebrate my favorite day of the week, each Friday I will highlight a short story, WIP, or other quip. I will write some of my own, but, also open it up for YOU, dear reader to join in.
If you would like to submit a Friday Fable please see the following guidelines:
1. All content MUST be YA, suitable for a general audience.
2. Fables must not exceed 500 words in length.
3. You must use an unpublished, original fable of your own, it can be a work in progress on its’ way for submission consideration.
4. Email to alleemaeauthor@aol.com with Fable Fridays in the subject line. Paste the entire fable within the email verbiage, not as an attachment.
If this feature grows in popularity, I will begin hosting a Friday Fables contest. Just not sure yet of the parameters, but, I can think of something.

Indigo visited her dad on occasion, as he lived in a neighboring town. She left Chigger home on the farm during one of her extended summer visits. The ticks were terribly bad that summer. When Indigo came home, Chigger was gone. He had fallen victim to illness from all the seed tick bites. Indigo was devastated, but, thankfully, not firsthand witness to the trauma. With time, the events softened in her mind.
When Indigo was ready for another dog, her family chose a large, bounding playmate for her. Triever was a black Labrador who clumsily labored around with huge paws and joyful temperament. He would eat his food lying down with his paws around each side of the food bowl. Indigo could practically ride that dog without fear of being bitten. His tail was usually wagging heavily from side to side. He would swim with the family, ride in the back of the truck to feed the other animals, and was never aggressive toward another living creature.
Indigo is not sure what happened to Triever. It was as if he just disappeared. At least, that is what momma told her. It was probably best that way.
